Linn Weiss, Communications Consultant

Linn Weiss’ professional background is in journalism and public relations. An award-winning, senior-level public affairs and public policy adviser with global business experience, he lives in the Chicago area and works as a communications consultant and executive speechwriter.

Besides his career with several top Fortune companies (General Electric, Schering-Plough) and a leading national professional organization (American Medical Association), he has authored a travel/commentary book, China Readies For Its Close-Up, observing the fast-track preparations and expected challenges for the 2008 Summer Olympics. He also has written several published book chapters (on science writing and crisis communications). His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from University of Missouri (School of Journalism).

Among Weiss' recognitions are two PRSA Silver Anvil awards shared with associates, for market-launch and editorial programs, and a 1st place national CIPRA Award for crisis management. His board member positions have included Preference Solutions, an AMA-Acxiom e-commerce joint venture to help physicians manage their office e-mail; Helen Keller International’s ChildSight® advisory board; Fairleigh Dickinson University’s board of corporate advisors (Graduate School – Communications); and Health Economics Research Institute, a global think tank pursuing new market-based initiatives to improve health care delivery.
